炎とウィスキー｜Fire and Whiskey
兄が家を建てた。90歳になる父の長年の夢だった薪ストーブをリビングに作った。早速父と兄とボクで薪ストーブを囲みながらウィスキーを飲んだ。こんなシーンは57年間で初めてだ。薪ストーブのゆらめく炎を見ながら父の90年を振り返る。90年で一番楽しかったこと、辛かったこと。戦時中のこと、終戦のこと。祖父の話、仕事の話。子供から見ていた父の姿と父の立場の姿のギャップも初めて知った。普段ではしないような話も、ゆらめく炎、ウィスキーのお陰で聞くことができた。とてもいい時間を過ごすことができた。次回は夏にピザ窯の前でシャンパンを飲みながら未来の話をしたいと思う。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）

My brother built a house with a wood-burning stove in the living room, which had been a longtime dream of my 90-year-old father. Soon after, my father, brother and I sat around the wood stove and drank whiskey. It was the first time I had seen such a scene in 57 years. As we watch the flickering flames of the wood stove, we look back on my father's 90 years, and what was the most enjoyable and painful part of those 90 years. The war years, the end of the war. Stories about his grandfather and his work. For the first time, I learned about the gap between the father I saw as a child and the father in his position. Thanks to the flickering fire and whiskey, I was able to listen to stories that I would not normally have. We had a very good time. Next time I would like to talk about the future over a glass of champagne in front of the pizza oven in the summer. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
