どうぞ、お先に｜Please, After You

大学病院で検査をした。採血やレントゲンなどいろいろな場所に行く。コロナもひと段落したようで、病院内も賑わっている。エレベーターも人が多く、乗り降りするのも大変だ。ようやくエレベーターがやってきてそそくさと乗ろうとしたら、パジャマ姿の患者さんに、エレベーターの扉を押さえて、どうぞと手招きされた。ボクの方が健康そうなのに、こんな時にも気遣いできるって凄い。いずれはそんなじぃさんになりたいものだ。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）

I had an examination at a university hospital. I needed to go to various places for blood samples and X-rays. The coronas seem to have settled down, and the hospital is crowded. The elevators were also crowded, making it difficult to get in and out. When the elevator finally arrived and I was about to get on, a patient in pajamas held the elevator door and beckoned me to come in. It was amazing that he could be so considerate even at a time like this, even though I look healthier than him. I hope to become an old man like him someday. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
