Impressive Shinkansen

The Shinkansenn stopped on Sunday afternoon. The power outage was apparently caused by an overhead line accident. In front of the ticket gate at Nagoya station, there was a lot of confusion. The platform was overflowing with people, and the stopped Shinkansen looked like rush hour. I was planning to go from Nagoya to Tokyo, so I thought about various ways. (1) Take the Tokaido Line (2) Rent a car (3) Go to Osaka and board an airplane (4) Wait until the restart. In the end, I decided to wait until it resumed, and boarded the Shinkansen that stopped at Nagoya Station. Fortunately, it started moving in about 30 minutes, so it was good, but the inside of the car was exhausted with people trapped for nearly 4 hours. What is the best way to make this waiting time comfortable? Movies, bingo competitions, in-car pubs, karaoke competitions, etc. How about a live broadcast of the repair status? People in the train could feel the urgency of the scene, and they cheered the repair staff on, saying, "Go for it! Go for it!" Scenery of hugging each other in the car when restored. It may be good if they are thankful for riding the "Impressive Shinkansen". -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
