お弁当｜Lunch Box｜2022/02/22

ムスメの保育園の給食が１週間お休みになった。お弁当を持っていかないといけないのだが、妻が献立をあれこれ考えている。食べやすいように小さなおむすびに大好きなシャケに玉子焼き。見ているだけでおいしそうだ。ふと自分の高校時代を思い出した。ボクは弁当派だったけど、パンやお弁当も販売していて、それらが羨ましかった。ある時母に弁当いらないって言ったら、父が自分がもらうよって言っていた。当時はよくわからなかったけれど、40年後の今ようやく父の気持ちがわかるようになった。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗） 

The school lunch at my daughter's nursery school was closed for a week. She had to bring a lunch box, and my wife was thinking about menus. Her favorite dishes like egg roll, salmon and small rice balls are easy to eat. It looked delicious just by looking at it. Suddenly I remembered my high school days. I brought a bento box everyday, and I was jealous of the bread and bento that were sold at the shop. When I told my mother that I wouldn't have a bento box, and my father told me I would get it. I could not understand why he said so at the time, but now, 40 years later, I can finally understand the feelings of my father. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
