市場の楽しみ|Fun of Market|2021/08/12

この夏は京都の町家に10日間の滞在だ。四条烏丸に近い賑やかなエリアで、飲食店も多い。だけどこの夏はコロナの影響でお酒の提供がない。旬な魚のお刺身もノンアルコールビールだとなんとも味気ない。そこで近所の錦市場に今夜のおかずを買いにゆく。東京にはない食材が身近にある。湯葉に、万願寺唐辛子に、お刺身に、西京漬けに、ハモもおいしそうだ。店のおばさんが美味しい料理方法を丁寧に教えてくれる。買って帰って、シャンパンや地のお酒を飲みながら料理をする。単に食材としてだけ見ていた市場が今夜のメニュー選びの場になる。これぞ市場の楽しみだなぁ。(絵と文:サカキテツ朗) 

This summer I will be staying in a townhouse in Kyoto for 10 days. It is a lively area near Shijo Karasuma, and there are many restaurants. However, there is no liquor served in the summer due to the influence of corona. Seasonal fish sashimi is also dull with a non-alcoholic beer. So I went to the nearby Nishiki Market to buy some dishes tonight. There are ingredients that are not found in Tokyo. Yuba, Manganji pepper, sashimi, pickled Saikyo, and pike conger look delicious. The aunt at the shop carefully teaches us how to cook deliciously. I buy it and go home and cook while drinking champagne and local sake.
