オーケーストアの衝撃｜Impact of OK Store

銀座にオーケーストアが開店した。ラボが有楽町に近い丸の内にあるので、意外と近い。ラボの食事会の準備と視察を兼ねて見に行った。銀座のOＫストアだと、高額商品やお惣菜中心のセレクト型のコンビニ程度かなと思っていたので驚いた。肉、魚、野菜の品揃えに日用品のラインナップは近所のスーパーよりもはるかに素晴らしい。大きなカバン持参で夜の食材はもちろん、冷凍食品、洗剤、ティッシュペーパーなど買って帰りたいくらいだ。週末車で郊外型のスーパーに買い出しというルーティーンが平日こなせる。このようなスタイルが人々に受け入れられるか、戦略を変えざるを得ないか、動向が楽しみだ。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）

An OK store has opened in Ginza. Since our lab is located in Marunouchi near Yurakucho, it is surprisingly close. I went to see the store in preparation for a dinner party at the lab and to inspect it. I was surprised because I had expected the OK Store in Ginza to be little more than a select convenience store focusing on high-end products and prepared foods. The selection of meat, fish, and vegetables, as well as the lineup of daily necessities, is far superior to that of a neighborhood supermarket. I would have loved to bring a large bag and buy not only food for the evening, but also frozen foods, detergent, tissue paper, and so on. People who drive to the suburban supermarket on weekends can do shopping on weekdays. It will be interesting to see if this style of shopping is accepted by people or if they are forced to change their strategies. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
