恐怖の内視鏡検査｜Fear Endoscopy｜2022/04/18

気がつくと検査室には誰もいなかった。時計を見ると開始から40分が経過していた。「サカキさんー、大丈夫ですか？」と看護婦さんが入ってきて声をかけてくれる。内視鏡で超音波の膵臓の検査を麻酔をかけて行うことになっていた。気がつくと上半身はぐっしょり濡れ、点滴の後は血にまみれ、喉の痛みが激しい。看護婦さんの話によるとボクはすぐに麻酔で寝たものの激しく抵抗したらしい。ボクにとって意識がなくても内視鏡検査は恐怖だったのだろうけど、意識がない暴れる患者は先生方にとっても恐怖なんだろうなぁ。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）
I noticed that there was no one in the room. Looking at the clock, 40 minutes had passed since the start. A nurse came in and asked, "Mr. Sakaki, are you okay?" I was supposed to perform an ultrasound pancreas examination under anesthesia with an endoscope. When I noticed, my upper body was soaked, bloody after the drip, and my sore throat was severe. According to the nurse, I slept under anesthesia immediately, but I resisted violently. Endoscopy would have been scary for me even if I wasn't conscious, but I think the unconscious and violent patients would be scary for the doctors as well. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
