エンジンがかからない｜The Engine Does Not Start｜2021/11/15

週末に家族でドライブに行こうと久しぶりにカーシェアを利用した。鍵を回してエンジンをかけるタイプの車だった。古い車だなぁと思いながら、鍵を回してエンジンをかける。あれっ、うんともすんともいわない。サイドブレーキよし、ギアはPに入ってるし、ブレーキも踏んでる。何度試してもダメだ。そうか、シートベルトをしないとダメなのかと思い、試してみるけど、ダメ。前に利用するはずの車が事故で変更になったことを思い出す。カーシェアって当たりはずれがあるなぁと思いながら、電話をする。係の人に手順を確認するように言われ、「さっきからやってます」と答える。「Ready」という表示がでるはずなのですがと言われ、ちょっとムッとして「さっきから出てます」と答える。「そうしたら動くはずなんですが」あっ、この車ハイブリッドだから鍵を回してもぶぶーんって言わないんだ！ああ、車が古いのではなく、自分の頭が古かった。。。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）
I used car sharing to go for a drive with my family on the weekend. It was a type of car that turned the key and started the engine. I was thinking it's an old car, and I turned the key and started the engine. But I could not hear the sound of the engine moving. Side brake was good, the gear was in P, and the brake was also stepped on. No matter how many times I tried. Well, I thought it would be useless if I didn't fasten my seat belt, so I tried it, but it didn't work. I remembered that the car I was supposed to use before was changed due to an accident. I made a phone call, thinking that car sharing was sometimes unuseless. The person in charge asked me to confirm the procedure and I answered, "I've been doing it again and again." I was told that "Ready" should be displayed, and I was a little stuffy and answered "I know it". "If you do that, it should work."
