Amalog Tone

I listened to the Beatles records I bought at junior high school. When I was in junior high school and high school, which is the record generation, I remember going to rental record shops and lending and borrowing records with friends. I listened to a variety of songs, including progressive rock, classical, and techno. Records were soon replaced by CDs, and I was surprised at the clarity of the digital sound. The analog sound sounded old-fashioned and dull. It's been decades since then, and the analog sound that I haven't seen in a long time has a human-like warmth to it. Digital seems like a chemical seasoning. I think analog is the best, but I don't know if my ears can really tell the difference. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
